MIDDLETON — Tucker Davis, Caleb Nishimoto, Hans Feyen and Jacob Clad ripped consecutive doubles to lead the Panhandle Babe Ruth All-Star team, but it wasn’t enough as they fell 6-5 to the Treasure Valley Baseball Academy in one of the featured games last weekend at the Middleton Tournament.

The Coldwater Creek-sponsored team built an early lead against the “elite” team from Boise, which has played in 46 games this season, before the seasoned team rallied for the win. Markus Davis was solid on the mound, holding the Boise team in check for most of the game.

In earlier tournament play, Davis hit a towering grand slam more than 330 feet over the “Blue Monster” in left field at Middleton High School, helping lead Panhandle over host Middleton. Nishimoto pitched four quality innings to pick up the win.

Clad finished the tournament with a sizzling .500 batting average to lead the Panhandle offense. Nishimoto hit .466, Feyen .428 and James Dougleas also hit .428 for the tournament as the bats really came alive.

Panhandle travels to Lewiston for a doubleheader today, then faces Pullman in a doubleheader on Wednesday, putting the finishing touches on the All-Star portion of the season.
