Summer fun recalls Norman Rockwell
This past weekend was a picture perfect setting in Sandpoint for small town America.
The downtown area came alive with the annual Wooden Boat Show and all of the adjoining activities. There was something for everyone to do, even me. There was a record number of boats this year for the viewing public to enjoy, along with a canine fashion show, children’s chalk drawing, a steel drum band and a free showing of the classic movie, “The Shaggy Dog.”
For those who came with an appetite and thirst there was plenty of great food, beer and wine.
The weather was perfect for the occasion and with the help and coordination by the Downtown Sandpoint Business Association and Kathleen Hyde, (the association’s downtown manager) all activities seemed to go off without any hitches.
And I could hardly talk of a perfect setting in Sandpoint without mentioning the huge crowd at the Farmer’s Market on Saturday. As I cruised the city park I saw many friends and neighbors purchasing some home-grown/made products, enjoying the local entertainment and just socializing with others in attendance.
Who says small town America is dead? Could life be any better?
