Hammilton pitches Lakers to win at district tournament

| July 23, 2009 9:00 PM

SANDPOINT — Nick Halpin and Cory Neer each drove in three runs, and Tevin Hamilton was solid on the hill to help lead the Riley Creek Lakers to a 10-5 win over Coeur d’Alene Thursday in the American Legion District Tournament at sweltering Harris Field in Lewiston.

Hamilton ran his record to 4-1 on the season, tossing a complete game six-hitter with four strikeouts, and the Lakers (18-14) scored plenty of runs to back him in triple digit heat.

Joel Cramer went 2-4 with two RBIs, Jordan Hammack went 2-3 with a double, and Scott Snow and Tyler Gordon each smacked doubles to lead the offense. Snow also threw out a would-be base stealer to strand runners and end an inning.

The Lakers face a very dangerous Lewiston team tonight, with first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m.
