America will rebound despite our politicians

 I’m baffled by the actions of our Congress and administration. I fail to grasp the logic behind the stimulus bill, the toxic assets (TARP) bill, the Cap and Trade bill, a national health care bill, and now, talk of a Stimulus II.

Stimulus I (which I read) is a pork bill; TARP benefits banks and Wall Street; Cap and Trade (not the official title) will make millions for a few while hosing the taxpayer. Throw in a national health care bill, plus the federal budget, and we face deficits so huge I can’t begin to wrap my brain around the numbers. Getting out of debt by going deeper in debt is like trying to lift a bucket you’re standing in.

The way to stimulate our economy is lower taxes on individuals and businesses, lower capital gains taxes, and cut the government workforce — local, state, and federal. A morbidly obese, overzealous government, creating boatloads of laws, taxes, and regulations is a far greater threat than melting of the polar ice caps, or a nuclear North Korea.

I am a glass-half-full guy. I believe America will come out of this in spite of the collective efforts of Washington. I believe the sleeping lion will awaken, see what our politicians are doing, and take control by voting them all out … it’s the only way to get our country back. You stand up, or remain silent … your choice.

This letter will be sent to Idaho’s state and National congressmen/women.
