When will Congress do right by people?

| July 25, 2009 9:00 PM

If Obama wants to cover everybody and says eliminating waste in health care costs is critical to our nation’s future, then there is no other meaningful solution than a universal coverage single- payer plan.

Yet, neither Congress, nor our president are even considering one because of the need to feed the greed from the corrupting influence of big insurance company money. We need both houses of Congress and the president to face up to their honest responsibility to the people and do what’s best for the people in actuality, not just pretend to do something that’s supposed to be good for us, and is truly a boondoggle that only gives advantage to corporate bullies. There are two good plans to pick from, PNHP and Ralph Nader’s plan. Publicize them, study them, debate them. They are both better than any plan Congress is considering. We don’t have to be frightened of having a plan like Canada. There isn’t any reason our plan can’t be better except for our politicians lack of will.

Congress has been acting so stupid — they behave like there’s only two solutions to any political question. Do something, just anything for payola or don’t do anything at all.

When is Congress going to do the right thing by the people? We pay their salary and their health care. Here’s another chance for them to do the job we’ve been paying them to do, you know, the one they take an oath to do after we elect them. Don’t let them blow us off again.
