Why can't trains keep quiet during the night?

| July 27, 2009 9:00 PM

Living within ear shot of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe rail crossing on Bottle Bay Road I did a little research and discovered that if there are crossing arms at an intersection where the tracks go cross over a road, which is that way on Bottle Bay Road, then these train jockey’s do not have to blow those annoying horns at all! It is purely up to them if they want to blow the horn or not. So why do they do it? Especially at 3:00 or 4:00 in the morning. Do any Daily Bee readers have any suggestions on how to get them to stop those irritating 30 and 40 second blast we hear daily?

The Sandpoint Bypass isn’t even finished yet and I see that The City of Ponderay is getting yet another new hotel and restaurant so the Sandpoint Bypass is working. New businesses are bypassing Sandpoint which is a real shame. Someone in Sandpoint better wake up and smell the sweet smell of business and hotel tax dollars that are going elsewhere.
