Unnecessary facility just rips off taxpayers
I received a “tax brochure” in the mail from the Bonner County Probation Office and I presume this is part of the district sttorney’s office so my puzzlement was twice piqued. Since when is it legal for taxpayer-supported government entities to use taxpayer monies demanding more taxpayer money. I refer to the “Bonner County juvenile justice facility” pamphlet. Yep, another two-year levy (property tax increase) on the citizens of this county. Haven’t you had enough taxing or will your apathy continue until your loading a U-Haul trailer in the dead of night to avoid foreclosure on your home because of these tax increases? Looked at your tax bills, we now have five school tax levies; two library; one hospital; one ambulance district (what dmbulance?); and the Independent Highway District. Then there’s the county/city government operations, which are never reduced.
In this scare brochure they cite usual fear subjects; loss of school revenues; job losses; doctor appointments, etc. Wise up, this is a rip-off intended to reward one company and a bunch of cronies. The cost of this is pegged at $6.6 million with the facility costing $3.8 million, however $2.8 million goes for design, engineering, infrastructure and project management, you got to be kidding. This is a rip off of criminal stature so I am asking you to vote no on this boondoggle and write to the district attorney to investigate both the use of this brochure by a government entity and the estimated costs of this project, especially the $2.8 million.
