Just say no, no, no on juvenile facility vote

| June 3, 2009 9:00 PM

Yep here we go again, now the Bonner County commissioners are trying again, only this time through the voting process. How generous of them to let us have a say on how much they want to tax us. After two successful fear and intimidation campaigns by the NEA (teachers union) amounting to nearly $40 and with the city demanding another $20.5 million for water treatment expansion this year, the county commissioners want $5 million (to start with) for a new juvenile facility that they tried to sneak through without a vote earlier. Ya know, pretty soon this will add up to some serious money.

The NEA, on its Web site (www.nea.org) identified that the medium wage for school employees was $44,099 annually (that means that half earned this or less and the other half earned this or more) while SSN retirees survive on less than $24,000; SSI on less than $9,600; federal minimum wage jobs about $10,500 annually. What are the medium wages for city and county employees, some where comparable to the school employees, I think, well they can obviously afford these continual tax increases but I can’t, gotta leave and make room for all those millionaires coming to Sandpoint.

Has the commission investigated alternative to house these hardened criminals; looked for other facilities in the area — i.e. former military bases or state facility; or are they just concerned with the contractor that’s pushing to build this “punk palace.” Who’s getting paid off on this one folks? This is too much; we gotta say no, no, no. Even the sheriff says no. Our bureau weenies and elected officials, at all levels of governance are running wild and we gotta stop this before we’re fighting in the streets (second civil war is approaching) through out America.
