Tennis Block Party today

| June 5, 2009 9:00 PM

SANDPOINT — Attention Bonner County tennis players of all ages and skill levels: The Tennis Block Party will be held today at Travers Park, free of charge, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with the time varying based on the age of the participants.

This is a great opportunity to try your hand at a life sport. Participants will enjoy fun games (hitting the target for prizes, rally ball, beat the pro, etc . . .), as well as gain playing tips, networking and picking up lesson information for the summer.

Terry Valdez, the USTA Pacific Northwest consultant, will be on hand to share a wealth of tennis knowledge. If you don’t have a racket, loaners will be provided. This is a great way to kick off the season and get ready for some summertime tennis. No need to pre-register, just show up at the courts.

Children ages 6-9 will play from 9-10 a.m., ages 10-12 from 10-11 a.m., ages 13-17 from 11 a.m. to noon, and over 17 from noon-1 p.m.

A special thanks to the Sandpoint Tennis Association for their support. Prince rackets will be available to demo. Flyers and schedules for the youth tennis programs will also be available.
