Verizon should fix faulty equipment

| June 6, 2009 9:00 PM

Anyone else notice that everyday there seems to be  half a dozen 911 hang-up calls in the police record? Are these costing the police/taxpayers extra money to respond?

Verizon should be required to repair their obviously faulty equipment or reimburse the city/county. I had direct experience with this about five years ago. The police showed up just before 2 a.m. on a Saturday morning, claiming a 911 hang-up had come from my number and they wouldn’t leave until they were assured that I didn’t have a hostage that had briefly escaped to punch in 911. Several days later when I returned from work, my neighbor told me the cops were at my place again, responding to a 911 hang up, from my empty house. You think after awhile, the police would get wise.

Speaking of the police, maybe if they didn’t throw kids in jail for skipping school for a week, we wouldn’t need a new juvenile detention facility.
