| June 8, 2009 9:00 PM

Carole Eldridge, of Sandpoint, died May 21, 2009, two days before her 60th birthday, after battling lung cancer for eight months.

She was born on May 23, 1949, to Ann and Chuck Brewster in San Fernando Valley, Calif., and graduated from Hoover High School, Glendale, Calif., in 1967.

Carole was known for her quick and easy smile, her contagious laugh and her quiet, generous nature. A loyal friend, she kept in touch with everyone she ever knew and remembered to send cards on all occasions. She was the office manager at Keokee Co. for many years, where she was beloved by her coworkers and appreciated for her friendly voice.

Her daughters and grandsons were one of the joys of her life. She loved watching her grandsons’ numerous sporting events and supporting them in every way.

She also enjoyed the Festival at Sandpoint, where she regularly volunteered in the info booth with Trish Gannon and friends. She is survived by two daughters, Sunny Eldridge and Becky Klahs, and two grandsons, Tucker and Kaden, all of Sandpoint. Other survivors include her brother, Chuck Brewster, Thailand; and sisters Sarah Wise, Mariposa, Calif.; Helen Milne, Maui, Hawaii; Judy Nordella, Stevenson Ranch, Calif.; and Martha Brewster, Sunland, Calif.; 15 nieces and nephews; seven great nieces and nephews; and many close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband.

A celebration of her life will be held Sunday, June 14 at 2 p.m. at Oden Hall on Sunnyside Road. It will be a fingerfood potluck meant to reunite family and extended family in a comfortable setting that Carole would have loved.

People are encouraged to bring a “Carole story” for a remembrance book and to wear bright colors. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Angels over Sandpoint, Celebrate Life or Community Cancer Services.
