Bypass or byway? Which is right?

| June 17, 2009 9:00 PM

The Bonner County Daily Bee has done articles on the Sandpoint Byway and also the Sandpoint bypass, Which is it, byway or bypass?

I for one like byway because I believe when this construction mess is finally completed the downtown Sandpoint will be bypassed. Maybe I am wrong, I sure hope so.

Do I mind waiting, parked, on the Long Bridge for trucks to enter and exit the construction area? Yes, but do we have a choice, no. So the folks who own small businesses in downtown Sandpoint suffer because people do not want to deal with that Long Bridge mess and can you blame them.

Living on the Sagle side of the Long Bridge, we have friends who are doing their shopping now in Hayden and Coeur d’Alene. They say, “things are less expensive and there are more stores with better selections to choose from.”

Sure gasoline is about $.25 cents a gallon cheaper, why? Who knows. But come on folks, lets try and bite the construction bullet and support our local businesses. Does anyone know or care why those Parson Construction people can’t work at night rather then block traffic during the day? Beats me.
