COEUR d’ALENE — After downing Coeur d’Alene 8-5 in the opener of an American Legion doubleheader on Tuesday night, the Riley Creek Lakers lost the night cap 11-5, giving up five runs in the first inning and never recovering.

Nick Halpin continues to crush the ball, going 2-4 to raise his average over .400 on the season. Scott Snow added a two-run triple, and Tyler Gordon an RBI double to lead the Lakers offensively.

David Dishong started, before being relieved by Tyler Gordon in the first inning. Halpin and Tevin Hamilton also logged innings in the loss. The Lakers (5-5) mounted a couple of late rallies, but could not get the clutch hits, stranding 13 base runners in the game.

The Lakers host Riverside in home action Friday night under the lights of War Memorial Field. First pitch is 7 p.m., so come out and enjoy some good baseball.
