Scott G. Thiele was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on January 19, 1928 to Stanley and Jeanette Thiele. He was one of three siblings. He graduated from West High School and enlisted in the Marine Corps. He missed World War II but spent most of his enlistment time in Hawaii.

He married Jean Brovold on Jan. 28, 1949. They had four girls, Peggy, Mary, Nancy and Joanne. Scott and his family lived in Richfield and Burnsville, Minnesota. He was employed by 3M for over thirty years and was one of the original computer programmers. He loved skiing in Aspen, Colorado. He also frequented Mille Lacs Lake in northern Minnesota for ice fishing. He enjoyed taking his family to Ely, Minnesota for vacations that included fishing and canoeing in the Boundary Waters.

He took early retirement from 3M so he could move to North Idaho.

He moved to Janish Drive in 1985 to be closer to his grandson, Conor. During Conor’s young years, he walked down every morning to have breakfast with his grandpa. He learned the game of poker and cribbage from his grandpa. Scott became a member at the Elks and spent most of his free time on the golf course with his friends Al Malak and Jerry Van Ooyen. He enjoyed men’s club and traveling to various golf courses. He would drive to Milwaukee in the fall and southern California in the spring to spend time with other grandchildren.

Scott is preceded in death by his wife Jean, and his daughter Nancy (Pastrano).

His surviving family members include Peggy, David and Conor Baranski (Hope, Idaho); Mary, Ralph, Rachael and Max Zimmermann (Milwaukee, Wisconsin); Bob, Michael and Olivia Pastrano (Hacienda Heights, California); Joanne, Jeremiah and Justin Cornehl ( Apple Valley, Minnesota).
