County doesn't need 'hotel' for juveniles

| June 22, 2009 9:00 PM

I have a few comments about a $6 million hotel for juveniles.

Our politicians are not telling us, exactly, what we will be paying for. Does this hotel have steel bars like a jail? In my mind, a real plus for yes votes.

Normal jail bed with a steel potty in each room. I am talking a real jail so the so-called kids won’t want to ever come back to this place again.

The story about how much money a jail saves is a joke.

We older folks heard the same story years ago when the current jail was built. If you want the voters to believe this story, print the actual operating cost of the existing jail. We were told it would not only save us money, but make a profit.

I’ll vote yes, if it’s a real jail with meals served on a steel dish with a hole in the door.

Didn’t I just read a new high school was built for half the cost of the jail?
