Henry 'Hank' Rodne, 86

Henry, “Hank” Rodne, 86, of Bothell, Wash., and former Ponderay, Idaho, resident, died Wednesday, June 17, 2009.

He was born Oct. 23, 1922 in Alkabo, N.D., one of 7 children born to Nikolai and Thea Rodne. He was raised in North Dakota and then traveled, ultimately ending up in North Idaho where he met Frances Mary Tashoff whom he married on Nov. 14, 1953, in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. In 1956 they bought  property in Ponderay where he lived until  moving to the  Seattle area in 2007 to be near his daughter and family.

Hank was a worked for various mills in the area, but spent many years at Louisiana Pacific as a planer, retiring in 1987.

He is survived by a daughter,  Joyce (Carston) Thode of Bothell; two grandchildren, Christoph and Alexis Thode; a brother, Sven Rodne of Ore.; and two sisters: Hanne Wickstrum of Washington and Martha Kirkpatrick of California.

In addition to his wife, who died on April 21, 1998, he was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

Graveside services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at Pinecrest Memorial Park, with the Rev. Ken Smith, officiating.

Friends may call at Coffelt Funeral Chapel Tuesday from 4-6 p.m.
