Sports editor provides excellent local coverage
After reading your June 17 commentary in your sport’s column, my husband and I want to write to tell you our response:
Since Mr. Plummer has taken the helm of our Daily Bee Sport’s page, we have noticed a welcome change. More local sporting events coverage, incredible mid-air action photos of our area athletes and newsworthy articles. In fact, the only reason we subscribe to the Bonner County Daily Bee is because of your sport’s page — we turn there first to see the sport’s page and read about our kid’s; our friend’s and neighbor’s kids and grandkids.
What a hometown paper should be, right? We feel Mr. Plummer is gifted and talented in the ability to capture unprecedented action photos of athletes. We enjoy seeing him at soccer games, basketball tournaments, football games, track and field events, cross country, dance team performances, wrestling and swim meets. He has his ever-ready camera in tow and seems to actually enjoy being a spectator. Not only does he do his job well, but he is genuinely interested in making our local athletic talent shine. He does exactly what a small town, local sports’ reporter should do. Keep up the great work, Eric. We want to continue seeing sports in our area well covered. After all, we are a small hometown.
Oh, and that comment? Reminds us of the very reason why we left California 15 years ago for greener North Idaho pastures. Our hope is that those who choose to come and live in North Idaho do so with the intention of keeping the status quo. Don’t try to come here and begin changing things! We like the expertise and enjoy the sports’ photography work of Eric Plummer.
Well done, Mr. Plummer. Keep up your good work.
