Styer leads local Ironman finishers

COEUR d’ALENE — Sandpoint’s Jacob Styer, 31, finished the 2009 Ford Ironman Coeur d’Alene in 14:02.55 on Sunday, placing 193rd in the men’s 30-34 age group and pacing a trio of local finishers.

Dennis Dye, a 47 year-old from Sagle, finished in 14:56.30, good for 202nd among the men’s 45-49 age group. Sandpoint’s Mark Baillie, 44, finished in 16:20.45, good for 343rd in the 40-44 age group.

Spain’s Francisco Pontana won the 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike and 26.2 mile run Ironman in just 8:32.12 to lead the men, and Tyler Stewart, of California, led the women with a time of 9:23.21.
