Column poked fun at reader, not reporter

In defense of Bee publisher David Keyes, may I correct a misunderstanding? Mr. Keyes did praise the sports section of the Daily Bee. He politely pointed out the adequate coverage via television and larger cities. The second misunderstanding concerns the comment that threw the sports editor into a temper tantrum. The comment was not made by a Californian but by a Sandpoint resident. The sports editor is wrong on both counts. If the defenders of the sports editor were to re-read the article, you would realize the humor. Mr. Keyes was actually poking fun at me for my chintzy bid of $7.
So relax, your sports editor is safe from one lone Sandpoint resident who spoke his opinion.
