Ila Stangel

| June 29, 2009 9:00 PM

Ila Stangel, passed away on June 17, 2009, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, at the age of 81.

She was born Ila Fletcher in Crosby, Minn., on April 6, 1928. There, she met and married her husband, Jinx. Their five sons were born in Minnesota before they packed up and moved to this area in 1957. She enjoyed raising her children, cooking, sewing and gardening. And, when her grandchildren came along, she had a lot to teach them and infinite patience for doing so.

After Jinx retired, they, like so many, decided to spend winters where it’s warmer. They found a place they loved in San Carlos, Mexico, eventually deciding to remain there year round. After Jinx passed away in 2005, Ila began spending her summers in Post Falls, Idaho, with her sister, Joyce. They packed a lot of fun and goodies into those visits.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jinx; a son, Randy; her parents; a sister, Verla of Montana; and two brothers, Virl and Ronald, both of Minnesota. She is survived by sons, Steve of South Dakota, Tom (Kathy) of Tucson, Ariz., Brad of San Carlos, Mexico, and Lyle of Spokane, Wash.; brothers, Donald, Gilbert, Bob, Jerry and Danny, all of Minnesota; sisters, Joyce of Post Falls and Linda of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Her cremains were spread at her home in San Carlos, Mexico.

She will be missed, so much, by so many.
