Local committee selling discount cards for golfers

| June 30, 2009 9:00 PM

SANDPOINT — What golfing enthusiast out there isn’t looking for the best deals on greens fees right now, times being what they are?

With that in mind, the Bonner County Golf and Recreation Committee has come up with a great opportunity for local golfers to get a smoking deal on rates in the region.

A Bonner County Public Player Discount Card is being sold right now for $35. The card offers a 25 percent discount off the standard summer rates at The Links Golf Course in Post Falls, The Creston Golf Course in British Columbia, The Priest Lake Golf Course and Stoneridge Golf Course for the remainder of the golf season. Stoneridge has blacked out Saturdays and Sundays before noon only.

Don Holland, part of the non-profit committee whose motto is “by the community, for the community,” says using the card three times is all it takes to offset the initial investment. All of the proceeds go to the committee, which has been working behind the scenes to bring an affordable 18 hole course to the area in the near future. They hope to make an announcement in the near future if everything comes together.

“We’ve ID’d a piece of land that is representative of Bonner County and worked with a world class course designer,” said Holland, who wished to thank the four courses for their support. “These courses have been great in extending a helping hand to our committee, helping us gain a little revenue to offset expenses.”

The discount cards can be purchased at Travel America Plaza Conoco in Sagle, and Eichardt’s, Pro-Build, Hallan’s Gallery and the Law Offices of Fred Palmer and Ted Deihl in Sandpoint.
