Spokane Teachers Credit Union celebrates branch opening
PONDERAY — Spokane Teachers Credit Union’s Bonner County Branch will opened its doors to area residents last month.
“It is great to offer personalized service right here at Ponderay Crossing on Highway 95,” said Sherri Richardson, branch manager. “Until now, STCU has been serving our neighbors in this area through our Newport Branch location in Washington or by online connections.”
The not-for-profit cooperative serves 78,000 members with checking and savings accounts, home and car loans, credit cards, ATMs and commercial loans. In addition, the organization has forged a business services department to handle a growing number of real estate loans, lines of credit, and checking accounts for small business owners.
“We offer innovative products and services, but more importantly consumer safety — we really care about the people we serve,” said Steve Dahlstrom, president and CEO.
While STCU began as a teacher’s credit union, it now serves members from all backgrounds. Richardson emphasizes the importance of relating to members individually. “Our primary focus is on the relationship we have with each member, and on supporting the communities where they live and work,” she said.
Dick Cvitanich at Lake Pend Oreille School District agrees. “STCU called on us even before they located a branch here,” said Cvitanich. “They wanted to know how the credit union could partner with our schools to help us provide education to our students and their families.”
Located at 477181 N. Highway 95, the branch is STCU’s 13th facility amd will employ three staff.
Founded by educators in 1934, STCU is a member-owned, not-for-profit cooperative that delivers financial products and services, such as shared branching, online banking, mobile banking and ATMs worldwide. Through innovation, attractive rates, and personalized service, STCU is committed to maximize its members’ financial health and security.
