Community thanked for supporting students

A big thank you to the voters of the Lake Pend Oreille School District for passage of the replacement levy.

By a very healthy 59.5 percent margin you showed that you care about the quality of our schools. It is especially gratifying that so many of you took the time to examine the details and to understand the consequences of not passing the levy. You ignored the cold and rain to get out and vote. You overcame fears about the current recession, possibly even a downturn in your own personal finances, to do the right thing. It is a sign of a healthy community when so many voters see beyond themselves to say “yes” to one of our most important assets — the public schools. Today the community pulse is stronger than ever, thanks to nearly 4,000 voters.
