Tricks help you spot a cleaner home in no time at all

| March 10, 2009 9:00 PM

Hank called and asked me what I thought about the political situation and what would I do to solve the current problem. To be honest, I’m neither Republican nor Democrat, if anything I would be classified as an independent.

I’m not much when it comes to politics. I guess that’s primarily because I’ve yet to see a politician who can keep their word. My Dad also said when in doubt about something, always follow the money. As you can see by the current situation, Congress is up to its eye balls spending money that we don’t have. If it were up to me I would go in there with a large vacuum and suck the place dry of every scoundrel that walks those hallowed halls and then I’d spray the place down with a good disinfectant.

Obama is correct about one thing, we do need change, we need to wipe the place clean and start over with a completely new crew that will actually represent us the citizen taxpayer.

Wow, I feel better. Not wanting to drone on about something I can’t control, below is “Trick of the Trade IV”. I sincerely hope you find them beneficial in your daily life.

Tricks of the trade:

Here are another eight great tricks.

1. To remove crayon — Put a little toothpaste on a cloth and gently rub, it should come right off. If you don’t have toothpaste try baking soda.

2. To remove nicotine — mix a bucket of distilled white vinegar and water. Wash the wall from the bottom up, that way you don’t get run marks. If it is real bad several applications may be necessary.

3. Paneled wall cleaner — Use Dawn dish soap in a bucket of water, remember wash from the bottom up.

4. To remove wall paper — First score the surface with a sharp knife or razor blade. This will allow the solution to penetrate the surface. I usually mix a solution of white vinegar and dish soap. Wet the paper and let it soak in, it should peel right off.

5. Fly spots — Sometimes you will see fly spots on windows. Rubbing alcohol will take them right off.

6. Cleaning window sheers — A great way to clean them is fill your bath tub with warm water, drop in several denture tablets and let the sheers sit over night. You’ll be surprised at how clean they got.

7. Dust mites — To kill dust mites that are in your bedding, place the item in a plastic bag and place the bag in your freezer for several hours.

8. Candleholder cleaning — If you use candles, coat the hold with petroleum jelly. Wax will not sick to the holder.

Next week I’ll provide you with another eight tricks of the trade, until then — keep smiling.

When cleaning with any cleaning product, always wear eye protection and rubber gloves to protect your hands.
