LeClede C. Porter, 90

LeClede C. Porter, 90, of Sandpoint, Idaho, died Feb. 16, 2009, at Bonner General Hospital.

She was born Aug. 10, 1918, in Salem, Ore., the daughter of John and Alma LeFors. She was raised in Portland, Ore., attending schools there and graduating from Roosevelt High School. She graduated from the University of Oregon in Eugene.

While on a blind date, LeClede was introduced to her future husband, Robert M. Porter. They were married in 1941. During their 44 years of marriage, they lived in Oregon, Michigan and California. Their life together was filled with much love, respect and the joy of being together.

LeClede was employed with the California Youth Authority for 23 years. Several years after Robert’s death, she followed her daughter and son-in-law to Idaho. For the past nine years, LeClede has lived at the Alpine Vista Apartments. She was very active here and loved being with all of her friends.

LeClede is survived by  her two children, Pamela (John) Burgy of Sagle, Idaho, and Scott (Laurie) Porter of Laguna Beach, Calif.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her parents; and a sister, Virginia.

Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Coffelt Funeral Service.

Funeral services were held at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Vancouver, Wash., on Monday, Feb. 23, 2009.
