Bands, organizers did a great job at annual event

| March 14, 2009 9:00 PM

If you felt the earth moving under your feet between 6-10 p.m. on Jan. 31 — it wasn’t the bypass construction crews driving pilings by moonlight, but instead the annual Battle of the Bands competition rockin’ The Panida.

The event was sponsored by the SHS Men’s Choir, under the direction of Jon Brownell, as a fundraiser for their choral competition in Portland this spring.

While the efforts of many were required to pull off the gig — which played to a packed house —  we’d like to direct special recognition and thanks to Rick Steiner of Sandpoint Music and Cole McAvoy for donating the first-, second- and third-place prizes in each of the two age-group categories. Thank you for your demonstrative support of these budding musicians.
