Character matters when it comes to our leaders

| March 14, 2009 9:00 PM

Here’s a way we could solve all our country’s financial problems.

President Obama should nominate all his friends and supporters to cabinet posts and other important jobs, thereby causing them to “remember” all the income they had “forgotten” to report. Whereupon they would run to the IRS with checks in hand to file amended tax returns. This largesse should swell the government’s coffers sufficiently to pay off the stimulus package, bail out the banks, and in the spirit of bipartisanship, build a couple bridges to nowhere for the Republicans’ exclusive use.

President Obama could then request they decline these nominations, to avoid “any appearance of impropriety,” and they could go back to whatever they were doing before their nomination with a good feeling they have come forward to help their country in its hour of need.

I sure am glad we have men and women of such sterling character looking out for us in  Washington.
