Workshop proves that it pays to have fun on the job

SANDPOINT — On Friday, human resources consultant Ruth Wimberly will help business owners, managers, and supervisors increase morale in a workshop titled It Pays to Have Fun in the Workplace.

Improved moral can increase productivity and profit margins.

On average a person spends 86,840 hours in their lifetime working, and having fun in the workplace can improve morale, retention, and customer service, said Wimberly.

Wimberly will engage participants with a light hearted presentation with a serious message.

“Be prepared to laugh,” she commented.

Ruth Wimberly is a human resources consultant with more than 20 years experience in the profession. She is certified as a senior human resources professional and holds a master’s degree in her field.

She has provided human resources services to manufacturing, financial, educational organizations, and public agencies.

Wimberly is a member of local and national human resources organizations and has been a guest speaker for national human resources conferences. She is the owner of Wimberly Human Resources Consulting and resides in Sandpoint.

Friday’s event is the third workshop in the new TGIF Workshop Series presented by the Bonner Business  Center.

The program will be held in the new Pend Oreille Service building, located on Highway 95 North, from noon to 1:30 p.m.

The cost is $12 for chamber members and $15 for non-members and includes a boxed lunch from a local restaurant.

Pre-payment and advanced reservations required or lunch will not be guaranteed.
