ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Oklahoma State’s Jared Rosholt, one of three former Sandpoint wrestlers in action, is still in the hunt for the third place trophy after winning twice and losing once Friday at the NCAA Championships in St. Louis.

No. 4 Rosholt lost 4-2 to Duke’s Konrad Dudziak in the quarterfinals at 285 pounds, then bounced back to beat East Stroud’s Chris Birchler 3-1 and Illinois’ John Wise 7-5, remaining alive for a top three finish and ensuring All-America honors. If Rosholt wins twice today, he’ll finish third in the 32 wrestler draw.

No. 7 Joey Fio of Oklahoma was pinned by No. 2 Troy Nickerson of Cornell in just 14 seconds, marking just the second time in Fio’s career that he has surrendered a fall. The loss snapped a 16 match winning streak for the 125 pound sophomore. Fio then lost 8-3 to Nocholas Bedelyon, of Kent State, ending his tournament run and falling just one win short or All-American honors.

Stanford’s Luke Feist beat Iowa’s Chad Beatty 3-1 in his first match Friday in the wrestle back bracket, then was eliminated in a 14-4 major decision against Cornell’s Cam Simaz.

Former Bonners Ferry and current Boise State 157 pounder Adam Hall notched his third win of the tournament with a 6-3 decision over Purdue’s Colton Salazar in the wrestle back bracket, before being eliminated by Minnesota’s Tyler Safratowich in a 3-1 decision.

The finals will air on ESPN at 3:30 p.m. today.
