Selkirk Association of Realtors launches service committee

| March 25, 2009 9:00 PM

SANDPOINT — Selkirk Association of Realtors officials are pleased to announce the recent formation of the Community Service Committee within the association.

For many years the SAR has been involved in service activities. However this is the first time that an outreach committee has been formed specifically for that purpose, officials said. SAR is the member organization that supports the activities, training and oversight of over 350 members and affiliates in Bonner and Boundary counties.

The committee’s mission is to provide a vehicle for all members of the Selkirk Association of Realtors, its affiliates, and the public, to participate in hands-on service activities to benefit those who live in the community we serve.

The committee will spearhead several community projects including:

n A major signature project providing labor and some materials to upgrade/update a non-profit property in the community. This project scheduled for June 5.

n The Christmas “Giving Tree” Project providing gifts from the community to qualified children and families.

n “Working Hands” projects: An ongoing effort to provide assistance to individuals and groups in need.

n Habitat for Humanity “Building Day” providing labor.

Non-profit organizations are invited to attend an April 3 lunch sponsored by SAR at noon at the SAR office, 325 S. Marion, to learn first-hand about these programs and how organizations and individuals might be a part of this  effort. Whether it’s to be on a committee, apply for assistance, assist with project funding or rolling-up your sleeves on work days, please plan to be there to learn about this exciting project. Applications for both the “Major Signature Project” and “Working Hands” will be distributed at the luncheon. Seating is limited so please RSVP to the SAR office by April 1 @ 208-265-2227 to reserve a seat for the luncheon. If you are unable to attend, but would like additional information about these efforts, please call Susan to receive the information package. Thank you for your attention and we hope to see you on Friday, April 3.
