U.S. must start being responsible immediately

| March 25, 2009 9:00 PM

The New York Times stated recently that the House passed “the largest expansion of government-sponsored service programs since John F. Kennedy first called for the creation of a national community service corps in 1963.” The Senate is preparing a similar bill. There were 251 Democrats and 70 Republicans in the house voting for it. Question, if this bill is service oriented and intended to promote “volunteerism,” then why is the government spending $6 billion? Or stated another way, on what is government spending $6 billion if the end result is to be one whereby people volunteer their time and services?

Folks, we continue to see headlines generating these “feel good” directives that are coming at the expense of money this country does not have. I implore you, be responsible. Our Congress, for the biggest part, is not. When is enough, enough? The year 2010 is coming sooner than you think.
