Why is Fish & Game trapping beavers?
Our third grade class took a walk in Travers Park a few weeks ago. We went down to the water next to the park where there is a deep pool. By the side of the pool we discovered a dead beaver in a trap.
Our teacher called animal control and Officer Mark Ogg investigated. He reported that the trap had been issued by Fish and Game. Our teacher left messages at the numbers for Fish and Game listed in the phone book, but her calls have not been returned.
We want to know who trapped the beaver and why? Why was it left in the trap? Why wasn’t a sign posted warning of a trap? We are worried that other traps will be set, and a child might step in it and get hurt. We hope to get some answers.
