Rules should not be used to push personal agendas

| May 16, 2009 9:00 PM

I often find the letters section of The Bee the most interesting, however, sometimes disturbing. You, too, may feel this way, particularly when someone expresses an opposing viewpoint.

This is not what bothers me, at least not enough to write in myself. What does is when someone writes not only their view but arrogantly belittles the beliefs (political/religious or other wise) of others.

Lately I am frequently reading dissent over ones taste and self expression. All over a certain green storefront.

I would think to be truly affected by this choice of color one would have to prove a loss in one’s own property values because of it. I can’t see how that could hurt. What I do see is lots of greed, evident by property values in Sandpoint.

Is it selfishness, or perhaps jealousy that drives people to try and dictate what others do with their own property. Ordinances and zoning should not be personal weapons to exploit private agendas.

I’ve come to accept a certain “statue” located in front of our court house. Can you remember what they call it?  My deeper thoughts are withheld to preserve public courtesy.
