Former Sonics strength coach to leach local Boot Camp

| May 26, 2009 9:00 PM

SANDPOINT — Attention any and all Bonner County adults wanting to improve their fitness, strength and energy, or anyone just looking to shed a few pounds: The Hite Performance Boot Camp is coming soon to Sandpoint.

The circuit training classes will be held at First Christian Church in Sandpoint every Saturday from 8-9 a.m., or from 9-10 a.m., and will run from June 6 through July 18, with the exception of July 4. Cost is just $30 for six group training sessions with instructor Ryan Hite, a former strength coach for the Seattle Sonics and University of Washington.

Hite is a master at tailoring exercises to fit the specific needs of all fitness levels, and each and every workout is different, fresh and challenging. He teaches his classes at private locations, without the egos sometimes found in a traditional gym setting.

“I think this class will challenge people of all ability levels,” said Hite, who now lives in Spokane. “It is a motivating class that combines fun exercises using scientific principles to help people reach their goals.”

A minimum of 50 people need to sign up, but local organizers are hoping as many as 200 will sign up for the classes. Testimonials from people who have taken his classes cite Hite’s energy, creativity, fun and challenging routines and leaving with an overall healthier lifestyle and understanding of fitness.

Exercises include agility drills, band work, strength training and a variety of cardio, among other things.

“It does not matter what condition you start the class,” said Hite. “Only that you are willing to work toward your fitness goals.”

Registration forms are available at First Christian Church (201 N. Division), or online at “www.hiteperformance.com.” Deadline to register is this Saturday, May 30, so act quickly.
