SANDPOINT — Local builders Steve Calhoon and Charles Wilson received the gold medal award for the master community plan of the Hawkstone Community in Liberty Lake, Wash.

Hosted by the National Association of Home Builders’ National Sales and Marketing Council, the awards ceremony critiqued the year’s top work in residential real estate sales, marketing and design.  The event, held in Las Vegas, Nev., attracted more than 500 building industry professionals.

Family neighborhood parks connect the central “Hawkstone Community Green” as well as to the hillside groves of fruit trees.  This is the stage for community recreation and social interactions for the residents with sidewalks, green squares, and landscape alleyways with garages and driveways are at the rear of the homes.

Whitewater Creek expects 500 homes to be sold over the next 5 to 7 years — targeting several buyer levels.

“Our primary goal in this community is to be authentic, with design character and real socio-economic diversity of people.” said Todd Prescott co-owner of Whitewater Development.

Wilson brings a balance of environmental stewardship and real estate asset leverage to properties.

Calhoon works with national home builders, timber companies and real estate developers assisting in master planning and detailed architectural site design. He is a principal planner with PACE Engineers located in Kirkland, Wash.
