Robert 'Bob' Wells, 85

Robert “Bob” Wells, 85, passed away in Kootenai, Idaho on Oct. 31, 2009.

He was born Nov. 6, 1923 in Rapid City, S.D., son of Flossie and Vernon Wells. 

He grew up in Hulett, Wyo., and moved to Priest River, Idaho, in 1934, graduating from Priest River High School in 1941.

He married Connie Hoskins on December 7, 1945 in Treasure Island, California.

He joined the U.S. Navy and did his basic training at Farragut and then radio school in Wiscon-sin.

He was a radio operator on the USS Hadley, a destroyer.

He returned to Priest River and worked in logging and at local sawmills retiring, as a millwright, from East River Lumber Co. in 1980.

Bob moved to Sandpoint in 1963 and then to Hope in 1980. He enjoyed lathe woodworking, hunting and mechanical work on his cars.

He was a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Sandpoint.

He is survived by his wife, Connie, in Ponderay; four sons, Bob in Portland, and Vernon, Bruce and Gary, all of Sandpoint; three granddaughters, Missie, Tove, and Niki; and three great-grandchildren, Ava, Charlotte, and Jayden.

  He was preceded in death his parents, Flossie and Vernon Wells; and a sister, Rogene Fuher.

Family services will be scheduled later.

Memorials may be made to the Shrine’s Hospital in Spokane, Washington in memory of Bob Wells.
