State-of-the-art screen would benefit everyone

In response to recent letter to the editor from Kari Daarstad Saccomanno about a Jumbotron LED board for Memorial Field.

First let me make things clear, that the word Jumbotron is incorrect. This was the name that Sony gave to their color LED video boards, which are no longer produced. Every new color LED board I have sold to professional sports franchises, universities, and high Schools over the past 30 years  have made money from the sale of advertising displayed on these boards. Especially at the high school level, where funding for most sports programs have all but dried up.

With the availability of long-term financing offered at a very competitive interest rate, high schools across the country are taking advantage of getting a state of the art color board that can show advertising as well as instant replay, scoring details, highlights of the players etc. The board at Memorial Field could also be used by The Festival at Sandpoint to show the performers and advertisers. Again another money maker for our local  community.

Kari Daarstad Saccomanno needs to realize we no longer use horseless carriages, carry buggy whips, use whale oil lamps, and wear high button shoes. We are now in the computer age.
