Time has come to govern, not campaign

| November 2, 2009 8:00 PM

Watching the recent news was really disturbing , massive bombings in Pakistan, the Taliban strengthening in Afghanistan, Russia has a contract to provide Iran with a missile defense system to protect their nuclear facilities. As Charlie Brown would say, “Good grief.”

We are knee deep in the Middle East chaos, this is the costliest month in American lives in the eight-year struggle. The consequences of pulling out are dire as our oil supply would be interrupted and the nuclear arsenal of Pakistan will become vulnerable just to name a few.

The cost of sending more troops and continuing the fight points to bankrupting the already empty Treasury in a conflict seemingly without end  Maybe it’s time for our president to get off the campaign trail, quit playing golf, knock off the demonetization of Fox news and start acting like the commander in chief he was elected to be. His country needs his undivided attention. Obama’s obsession with passing a “public option” plan and all the attention associated with this legislation has distracted Washington from the real issues that threaten America. How can we even think of implementing a new entitlement program, let alone one of this cost and government growth with a recession raging and so many folks out of work?

I wouldn’t want to be in Obama’s shoes but he ran and won, now it’s his baby. The world is ready to go up in smoke, Obama. Make some decisions that will keep the country safe, and please stop the campaigning, you won. Cap and trade, global warming … “good grief.”
