Don't take issue of posters too lightly

| November 4, 2009 8:00 PM

The Lake Pend Oreille School District, Human Rights Task Force and you, the Daily Bee, will do the community a great disservice if you choose to take the issue of Math Hathaway lightly.

My daughter was ASB president her senior year at Sandpoint High School, the Stone of Hope for Human Rights winner and a writer for the Cedar Post. She looked up to you as institutions. Now you need to do some “looking up.”

Look up the record on Matt Hathaway. The numerous tort claims against the abuses of power he wielded as a Bonner County cop. Dig a little deeper for the true reasons for his dismissal and then, later, his sudden departure from duty as a Spirit Lake officer immediately after yet another egregious act.

Propagandizing young people with slanderous facts that fly in the face of human decency to promote your own twisted ideals is exactly what I understood “brown shirting” was all about. Please do not allow Mr. Hathaway to further his abuses of power upon our community’s youth.
