John Ronald “Ronnie” Dick (husband, father, Pop-Pop, friend), 73, of Athol, Idaho (formally from Cardiff, N.J.) died peacefully in his home, Wednesday Nov. 4, 2009.

Ronnie was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and worked most of his teen years on the racetrack.

He joined the Army at the age of 19. He met the love of his life, Lois, in Brussels Belgium, and proposed to her on the Eiffel Tower six days later. They were not only husband and wife but best friends, that loved working and playing together.

Ronnie worked very hard for his family and loved them all very much. Ronnie was a volunteer fireman and auxiliary police in Linwood, N.J. He was employed at Atlantic City Electric Co. for 33 years.

When he retired, he and his wife Lois moved to Idaho and built their log home together. He loved working with his hands and could fix most anything. Ronnie’s new passion was playing and marching with the Albeni Falls Pipes and Drums of Sandpoint, Idaho. He loved playing Santa at Christmas time.

Ronnie was active at the Athol Baptist Church for many years, and was currently active at Calvary Christian Fellowship.

He is survived by his wife, Lois of 50 years; his three children, Sherry Wilson (George) of New Jersey, John Austin (Shea) of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and Dana Bochenek (Dave) of Athol, Idaho; nine grandchildren, Brian (Katrina), Matthew (Sarah), Karen and Daniel Wilson, Jennifer Austin, Bruce and Jacob Carber, Janice Palmer (Eric), and Charlotte Bochenek; five great-grandchildren, Seth, MacKenzie and Alex Wilson, Aiden Dilks and Chloe Palmer.

He will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him.

Friends and family are invited to attend his funeral service on Wednesday, Nov. 11, at 6 p.m..; viewing will be from 5-5:45 p.m. A dinner reception following the service at Athol Baptist Church. Internment and grave side services will be on Thursday, Nov 12, at 11 a.m. in the Greenwood Cemetery, Vermont and 10th Ave., Spirit Lake, Idaho.

Yates Funeral Home has been entrusted with care of final arrangements.
