A return to core values needed for true republic

| November 11, 2009 8:00 PM

We always hear that Democrats are for “the little guy.” I am writing this letter as a “conservative” who is 100 percent for “the little guy.” By the way, I am one of those little guys.

With the recent actions being taken by this administration  and by our Congress, we, the little guys who employ the big guys of government, are slowly but assuredly amassing to make job changes in 2010 by replacing as many people of the good old boy system as we can.

For a true republic to exist, we must return to our core values electing people who will put aside personal wants and favors for the greater good of the whole.

As Benjamin Franklin wrote: “Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom.  As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters.” This administration with its many czars and this Congress have usurped our true wants and needs to be replaced by what they think we need, by taking the role of masters upon themselves.

I personally will not give up my liberty, freedom and God-given rights.

I will honor my U.S. Constitution and my Declaration of Independence.  I am a proud American who yearns to return to the concept of small Government.

So look out in 2010 and 2012. The people will loudly make their choices of who we hire to work for us and not enslave us. Ahhh, hear freedom ring!
