WALLACE — The North Star League champion Wampus Cats had a team-high five players named to the 2009 All-North Star League volleyball team, as voted on recently by the league’s coaches.

Senior Chelsea Macumber, whom Cats coach Carolyn Speelmon said was the best outside hitter in the league, finished with 35 votes overall, two behind league Most Valuable Player Ruth Brunelle, of Lakeside.

Senior Shaina Gustafson, the spirited leader of the Cats, finished fourth in the league voting with 27 votes, and was a driving force in leading the Cats to a third place finish at the state tournament.
