Walter Curtis Snyder, 87, passed away in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009.

Family and friends may call prior to the service at 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 7, at the church.

Curt was born on April 2, 1922, in Altonah, Utah, to Robert William Snyder and Elva Lenora Hill. He was the seventh child out of 10 children. His sister, Arlene Potts, and Ted Snyder, are the only two surviving members.

Curt grew up in Altonah on a farm milking cows from the time he was 5-years-old until he left home for college.

He enlisted in the Navy in 1943 and served his country during World War II. After being discharged he arrived home and found all four other brothers had also been discharged.  What a wonderful family reunion. After a few days at home he went to Salt Lake City with a friend who arranged for a blind date. The young lady was Theo Mecham, who later became his wife on May 24, 1946. Charlotte was the first to join the family, followed by Kathryn, Peggy and Joel.

They moved around for work until finally moving to Sandpoint in 1951 where they lived until Theo’s passing in 2004.  urt then moved to Coeur d’Alene until his passing on Nov 7, 2009.

Curt’s life was centered in his service in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and his family.  He is survived by his daughters, his 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.
