Third quarter hurts Clark Fork in loss to 3A Timberlake
SPIRIT LAKE — Tiger Cassie Thompson had a game-high 26 points in a 72-37 win over the visiting Wampus Cats in non-league season-opening action.
Timberlake (1-0) trailed 25-21 at halftime, but used a 36-2 run in the third quarter to pull away Friday.
“Timberlake just came out on fire, and we couldn’t hit a bucket,” described Cats coach Dexter Vogel. “We didn’t give up and had Timberlake frustrated for quite a while.”
Chelsea Macumber had nine points, 11 rebounds and six steals to lead the Cats (0-1), Brocklynn Thornton added six points and eight boards, Tessa Vogel seven points and Shaina Gustafson tallied seven points and six steals in defeat.
Clark Fork hosts Priest River on Monday.
