SANDPOINT — Pend d’Oreille Winery brought home three medals from the 31st annual Tri Cities Wine Festival held  Nov. 7.

The 2007 Primitivo earned a bronze medal and the interest of many festival attendees, while  the 2006 Meyer Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon won gold and was a crowd favorite.

The big winner, however, was the Bistro Rouge winning a double gold medal.

The Tri Cities Wine Festival is an annual wine competition and public tasting featuring some of the best wines of the Northwest. Winemaker Steve Meyer said he’s very proud of the winery’s medals.

“It’s really great to receive this kind of recognition from a prestigious Northwest event,” said Meyer.

The Beverage Tasting Institute also awarded 88 points and a silver medal to the winery’s 2008 Pinot Gris.

Meyer uses traditional French methods and grapes sourced from world-class vineyards around the Northwest to produce award winning wines including Pinot Gris, Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, the very popular Huckleberry Blush and reserve wines.
