Spartans defeat SHS in girls basketball

PRIEST RIVER — Priest River outscored Sandpoint 13-3 in a pivotal second quarter, propelling the Spartans to a 47-32 win over the Bulldogs Thursday night in a nonleague girls basketball game at Priest River High School.

The high scoring tandem of Taylor Stewart and Melissa Hopkins combined for 29 points to lead the Spartans (4-0), who dropped in 18 fourth quarter points to put the game away.

Maggie Kirscher scored 13 points to lead the Bulldogs (0-3), who also got nine points from Christina Johnson and four apiece from Mackenzie Jones and Natasha Roop.

The Bulldogs host Coeur d’Alene on Tuesday night.
