City ignored residents' wishes on water

| October 3, 2009 9:00 PM

On Sept. 16, the Sandpoint City Council met to decide whether or not to add fluoride to our drinking water. This decision was overwhelmingly rejected by townspeople who attended the meeting.

The mayor and City Council approved adding fluoride anyway. They didn’t even listen to research study results stating fluoride is a danger to your health and your teeth. Fluoride makes your teeth hard and brittle, causing more trips to the dentist. Fluoride is made from a fertilizer that contains aluminum, which can lead to all kinds of health problems. People in favor of fluoridation state the amounts are too small to hurt us. Over a period of time it accumulates in our bodies.

Fluoride is definitely a poison and there are plenty of doctors and dentists on the internet providing info on this issue. Disregarding the harmful effects of fluoride by the mayor and city council is wrong. This is just another example where the majority is overruled by a few with self-serving opinions. You can find plenty of information on the Internet to verify my remarks.
