Susan Frances Ann Madsen

Susan Frances Ann Madsen passed away on Oct. 1, 2009, after courageously living with ovarian cancer for almost four years.

Born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, in 1953 to William Leonard Jones and Cecile Jean Pinsonnault, Susan and her family soon moved to California.

Susan graduated from Monterey High School in 1971.

In 1976 she made her way up to Priest River, Idaho where she met her husband, Pete. Susan and Pete spent the next 30-plus years building their life and family on the Bear Paw Road.

Susan spent her time as a “homemaker extraordinaire.” She was co-founder of Snow Valley Academy, a professional house-painter, and passionate gardener. Susan loved her home, family, animals, and her friends. She expressed this love through her warm hospitality and invitations to her dinner table.

Susan was preceded in death by her father, William Jones.

Susan is survived by her mother, Cecile Jones of Coeur d’Alene; husband, Peter of Priest River; daughter Annie Madsen-Foy (husband Don); son Luke (wife Tenneall) of Seattle, Wash.; and son Seth (girlfriend Ruta Samuolyte) of Diamond Lake, Wash.;, brother Steve Jones (wife Cathy); sister Debbie Adams (husband Jim) of Oakhurst, Calif.,, sister Lynn Nemeth (husband Blaze) of Vancouver, Wash.; and sister Barbara Breitenberg (husband Richard) of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

A potluck celebration of her life will be held Oct.  30, 2009, at 3 p.m. at the Madsen family home on the Bear Paw Road.

Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home and Crematory in Newport, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
