Kindness to veteran won't be forgotten

| October 7, 2009 9:00 PM

The Marine Corps League of Sandpoint would like to extend our special thanks to Dr. Forrest Bird of the Bird Aviation Museum and Invention Center.

Dr. Bird was asked by us if he could help us fulfill  a last request by one of our members who will soon be standing guard at the gates of Heaven. The member’s last wish was to have a helicopter ride over Sandpoint. Without hesitation or reservation, Dr. Bird agreed to take both the member and his wife on that ride.

Dr. Bird provided them with a 45-minute flight over Sandpoint and Sagle where they live. It turned out to be a beautiful day and everything went off as planned. Dr. Bird generously donated his time, expense and helicopter to grant a local veteran his last wish.

To Dr. Bird, the Marine Corps League is forever grateful.
