Walker leads Cats in loss
MULLAN — Chaunce Nesbitt hauled in touchdown catches of 88 and 48 yards from younger brother Nate Nesbitt, but it wasn’t enough as the Wampus Cats fell 48-34 at Mullan on Friday.
Oddly enough, onside kicks may have been the difference in the game, as Mullan recovered four of them, taking four possessions away from the Wampus Cats (1-5, 1-5 NSL), who have played North Star League teams much tougher the second time around.
“Not having the possessions really hurt us,” said Cats coach Brian Arthun. “It (the loss) really hurts our chances to get into the post season.”
Victor Walker was all over the field for the Cats, picking up 17 tackles on defense and also catching Nesbitt’s third touchdown pass of the game. Arthun also had high praise for the play of Taylor Scott at defensive tackle.
Howard Katzenberg picked up 145 yards on 13 carries, including a 74 yard burst, as the Cats were once again productive on offense.
Casey McKinnen was simply too much, rushing for five touchdowns and throwing for two more to lead Mullan (2-3, 2-3). Clark Fork hosts Wallace on Friday night.
